A hodgepodge? Not entirely.
Polonium made no effort to actually interpret the piece. He took it at face value and threw a hissy fit because the gas mask isn't perfect. I mean, there's obviously one major theme visible in this- making art out of pain.
Anyways, I don't review other people's reviews, I review pieces. I do agree with one thing that Polonium said, and that is that this feels like it uses too many cliche emo themes. Are they fitting? Somewhat, but you can depict pain in more creative ways than this, I'm sure. Looking at your gallery, I see a well of good imagination. One other qualm is the location of the drawing. Had you swapped the artist and the image being painted so that the blood figure was in front of the artist, the picture would have felt more cohesive. Another problem is how the hand being used to draw has its pinky raised. Why? That isn't a comfortable hand position for drawing.
Regardless, this is a fairly impressive piece. It's powerful, yet simple, and that can be hard to pull off well. Even though it's a silhouette, the figure still has a lot of detail and looks great. Good work.
